As we move into the end of the year, treats and temptations are always around! Practicing some simple tips can help keep you on track with your goals so you feel good about your choices when you do choose to indulge!
TIP 1
Be mindful of portion sizes. Don’t be fooled into overindulging on something just because it is considered healthy. Whether it’s veggies with dip or pecan pie, it’s important to not overdo it when it comes to eating large amounts. Listen to your fullness levels to know when to stop eating. It’s okay to treat yourself sometimes, as long as it is done in moderation.
TIP 2:
Always pack snacks! The holidays are right around the corner, which means lots of traveling, shopping, and running errands. Oftentimes this leads to skipping meals or resorting to fast food. Satisfy your appetite and keep your energy up by carrying healthy snacks with you while you are out and about.
TIP 3:
Try to drink half of your body weight (in ounces) of water. For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, aim for 75 ounces of water over the course of the day. Most water bottles contain about 16 ounces, so that would be about 4-5 water bottles. It can be easy to mistake thirst for hunger. This can lead to mindless snacking that never seems to satiate your appetite.
I encourage you to apply these tips so you can feel your best. Feel free to share them with the whole family to encourage healthy eating behaviors and habits.
