Health Care Challenge

You can improve the quality of your health by staying up to date with your preventative health screenings and check-ups each year. Catching a serious condition and treating it before symptoms appear or vaccinating to prevent a disease from occurring is the best way to ensure a long and healthy life. Check out the weekly challenges to encourage you to take charge of your health today regardless of whether or not you have health insurance!

WEEK 1: TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE COVERAGE YOU HAVE

Contact your primary care provider to schedule your appointment. It pays to have your preventative check-ups done! If you are covered, you should receive preventative wellness screenings including physicals, dental cleanings, immunizations, women’s health checks, etc. for free with a provider in your network.

WEEK 2: RESEARCH COMMUNITY CLINICS IN YOUR AREA WEEK

If you’re underinsured, you can still participate in preventive screenings for low cost at community care clinics. Do a quick search online for community clinics in your zip code using this site: https://findahealthcenter.hrsa.gov/? zip=&radius=10&incrementalsearch=true

WEEK 3: ATTEND A FREE HEALTH FAIR WEEK 4: LOCATE A NEARBY URGENT

You can also search for health fairs in your community that offer free screenings and health education for people of all ages!

WEEK 4: LOCATE A NEARBY URGENT CARE

Urgent care clinics can be a great place to go when your normal clinic is not an option for non-emergency care. An illness or injury that does not appear to be life-threatening but can’t wait until the next day can be treated at an urgent care center. Going to urgent care instead of the emergency room for non-life-threatening conditions can also help you cut costs down the line!
