This month we challenge you to take a closer look at your lifestyle habits to help you reduce your risk of heart disease. Begin working towards each weekly challenge.
These key challenges will help you unlock a happier, healthier heart.
Week One: Ask yourself which lifestyle factor (smoking or alcohol cessation, getting adequate sleep, oral hygiene, stress management) you would like to work towards first. Focusing on one specific goal in mind can help you figure out how to realistically achieve it.
Week Two: Fill half your plate up with vegetables at each meal! Here are a few tips to help you add vegetables to your meals: have a side salad, add greens to your smoothie, or snack on crunchy veggies such as bell peppers, celery sticks, and carrots.
Week Three: Know your numbers. If you can’t remember the last time you went to the doctor to get a physical or routine check-up, schedule an appointment now. Ask your doctor to check your blood pressure, glucose, and cholesterol.
Week Four: Spread awareness of Heart Health Month with your friends and family by inviting them to take a walk with you, share a heart-healthy meal, or educate them on how they can reduce their risk of heart disease by taking care of themselves.
